This Is My Voice is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app designed to give a voice to those who need it most. The app is 100% free forever with no ads, no subscriptions, and no data collection. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Information We Collect
Local Data Only
This Is My Voice stores all user data locally on your device. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal information on remote servers. Specifically:
- Voice Settings – Your selected voice, speech rate, pitch, and volume preferences are stored locally in UserDefaults
- App Preferences – Grid size, theme, PIN, and customization settings are stored locally on your device
- Custom Content – Any custom symbols, categories, or images you create are stored in your device's local storage
- Personal Voice – If you use iOS Personal Voice, this data is managed entirely by iOS and never leaves your device
Network Requests
The app makes no network requests. Once installed, it works entirely offline. Your data never leaves your device.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- ❌ Your name, email address, or contact information
- ❌ Usage analytics or app activity tracking
- ❌ Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- ❌ Location data
- ❌ Crash reports or diagnostics (unless you explicitly submit via Apple's crash reporting)
- ❌ Voice recordings or speech content
- ❌ Photos or custom images you add (stored locally only)
Third-Party Services
Personal Voice (iOS Feature)
If you use iOS 17+ Personal Voice:
- This feature is managed entirely by Apple's iOS
- Voice data never leaves your device
- We do not have access to your Personal Voice recordings

Data Storage and Security
All data is stored locally on your device using:
- UserDefaults – For app preferences and settings
- Keychain – For secure storage of your PIN
- Documents Directory – For custom images and board configurations
Data Persistence
- All data is deleted when you delete the app
- You can reset your PIN in Settings at any time
Board Export and Sharing
The app allows you to export board configurations as .timv files. When you export or share a board:
- The file is created locally on your device
- You control how and with whom you share it (AirDrop, Files app, etc.)
- We do not have access to these files or know when/how they're shared
- Shared files may contain your custom settings, images, and preferences
Children's Privacy
This Is My Voice is designed for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children or adults. All data remains on the device.
The app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not collecting any personal information from users of any age.
Your Rights and Choices
You have complete control over your data:
- Delete Data – Delete the app to remove all local data
- Reset Settings – Use the PIN reset feature in Settings to reset your PIN
- Custom Content – Delete custom symbols and categories within the app's edit mode
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Posting the new policy on this page
- Notifying users via app update notes (for significant changes)
Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
International Users
This Is My Voice is available worldwide. All data is stored locally on your device, regardless of your location. No data is transferred internationally.
